We corrected prompt-cache billing for a subset of Claude requests after 16 Jul 2026. Eligible users can claim compensatory credits directly from their dashboard.
What changed
Some Claude requests did not receive the intended prompt-cache billing adjustment. We identified the affected paid accounts and standalone voucher keys and prepared a one-time credit correction.
Eligibility
A paid account or standalone voucher session is eligible when it has more than 50M credits of affected Claude usage in the correction window and was included in the final adjustment. Users who do not see a claim prompt do not need to take any action.
How the adjustment is calculated
The adjustment is the difference between the recorded charge and a recalculation using a 50% prompt-cache assumption for eligible historical usage.
Claiming credits
Eligible paid and voucher sessions see a mandatory claim prompt after signing in. Select Claim now to add the displayed amount to that session's balance.
The prompt cannot be dismissed. It remains available on dashboard visits until the adjustment is claimed.
Each adjustment can be claimed once. After a successful claim, the updated balance is shown immediately.
Going forward
Claude billing uses a consistent 60% assumed prompt-cache allocation. This keeps billing predictable when cache metadata is unavailable.
No action is required from accounts that do not see the claim prompt.
